BEES isn’t here just for the beer, it’s busy joining the ecommerce giants

Asked to name the ten biggest global ecommerce platforms, most people would suggest Amazon or eBay, perhaps the Japanese giant Rakuten or maybe a big Chinese name like TMall, JD or Pinduoduo. They probably would not think of a brewer.

Remarkably, though, when ranked by gross merchandise volume — the total sales value of goods sold through a particular marketplace — the world’s tenth largest player is now a platform called BEES. It is part of AB InBev, the world’s biggest brewing company , the owner of beers including Budweiser, Stella Artois and Corona.
