B2B Platform Fashion Cloud Launches Model for eCommerce Product Data

Business-to-business platform Fashion Cloud created a new model for eCommerce product data aligned with industry standards and aimed at helping merchants integrate information from brands into their digital stores, Fashion United reported.

Fashion Cloud partnered with Bte and Euretco to develop the guide, which will assist over 17,000 merchants that use the platform to tap the product data that brands provide. Further, some 2,000 retailers use Fashion Cloud to pull together product data from other brands.

“We appeal to every supplier to follow this standard and will work in the coming weeks as well as months to support more brands in meeting these guidelines,” Alies ter Kuile , co-owner of Fashion Cloud, said.

Fashion Cloud saw a necessity for a model for data standards after the platform became aware of significant variations in what type of data was being provided. The startup, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, decided that by optimizing the process, online merchants could collect clear-cut data.

The guide offers brands and merchants a more coherent view of what is necessary for product data that’s eCommerce ready. Some of the attributes retailers have deemed as being essential include season, fabric and care instructions. Retailers have also been asked to include sustainability certificates, country of origin, or other details that can help spotlight products.
