WWE and Fanatics ink broad deal covering ecommerce, collectibles and NFTs
Fanatics to launch WWE Shop ecommerce platform this summer
Agreement designates sports retailer as WWE’s exclusive trading card provider
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has signed a long-term licensing agreement with Fanatics, which covers the sports retail giant’s owned ecommerce, merchandise, trading cards and non-fungible token (NFT) subsidiaries.
The deal will see WWE licensed products made available via the Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles and Candy Digital NFT platforms.
This summer, Fanatics will launch the WWE Shop ecommerce platform which will offer a variety of merchandise, apparel and accessories.
The deal will also see Fanatics collaborate closely with WWE to produce reactive products to coincide with WWE’s biggest moments.
The contract also sees Fanatics Collectibles become the exclusive provider of licensed WWE trading cards and digital collectibles.
Fanatics, whose owner Michael Rubin was listed as one of SportsPro’s ten influencers for 2022 , acquired trading card firm Topps earlier this year for US$500 million. Once the wrestling promotion’s current trading cards licence deals expire, it is this division that will exclusively deliver WWE trading cards.In addition, Candy Digital will launch a range of WWE NFT card collectibles, developed by the Fanatics-owned blockchain specialist’s digital artists and designers.“We believe this multi-platform partnership will set a new standard for WWE ecommerce, apparel and merchandise, while providing our fans globally with more ways than ever to engage with WWE and our superstars,” said Vince McMahon, chairman and chief executive of WWE.Rubin added: “WWE is one of the most widely admired sports and entertainment properties worldwide, and it made perfect sense to activate many parts of our Fanatics global platform to create a first-of-its-kind, all-in fan experience.“From ecommerce and licensed merchandise to trading cards and more, we’re going to offer up an incredible set of capabilities to help WWE’s passionate fans worldwide celebrate their favourite Superstars, marquee […]
